Tell Tale Signs It’s Time To Redesign Your Website

The ins and outs of design change quickly, and when they do change it’s obvious who’s left behind.

Let’s go over a few signs that it’s time to consider redesigning your website.

outdated photography

Both stock photography and professional photography can begin to look old over time. People can absolutely look at an image and determine a range for how long ago a photo was taken. If you think about it and realize that you haven’t taken a new headshot in six years, or that the staff in your shop haven’t had new photos in a while and several new people have been hired - it’s time for a new professional photoshoot. Using better stock photography sites, both paid and unpaid, will help to freshen up your website’s imagery as well. You’ll want to use stock photos from modern sites like unsplash.com, pexels.com, or hautestock.co.

The services/products listed are no longer offered

If your business is the kind that adds new products or services regularly to their website, it can be super easy to forget about removing what is no longer available or offered over time. Take a look at your inventory and your offerings, are they still aligned with what you do? Are there lots of listed products or services that you have changed significantly since you last update your website? Removing phantom content from your website is just one way a redesign can help improve your site.

You’ve changed Your branding or packaging

There may come a time when you’re ready to make a major pivot in your business and it could require a complete overhaul of your brand. If you have had to update or completely change major aspects of your brand such as the color palette, logos, or messaging, your website definitely needs to match the updates. Doing this keeps your brand consistent across all of your social media outlets and helps people recognize your brand.

The website no longer feels like “you” anymore

Maybe when you first started your business you grabbed a generic template and did the best you could to DIY your website. You didn’t have much of a brand and weren’t loyal to any colors, you only replaced the images and copy then pressed launch. Everyone’s been there before. But did that template feel like it was an accurate representation of your brand or business? Probably not. If you find yourself hesitant to share your website with others, feeling embarrassed whenever someone says they went to your site, then it’s time to get it redesigned. Get a website that feels more like the business owner you truly are and one that showcases your brand.
