Five Questions Your Website Should Answer

When someone lands on your website you have about seven seconds to grab and hold their attention.

Seven seconds is not a long time! Whether you have a one page website or an 18-page website, when someone sticks around on your site for longer than that, you want to make the most of it. Here are five major questions your website should answer about you and your business.

Newsletter or freebie sign up

If you have a newsletter or some type of freebie that you’d like people to be able to download, this should at least be a popup on your website if not prominently displayed on most pages. My preference is to have both a popup and inline form on the website or in the footer.

An informative footer

Use your footer as a space to provide helpful links and information about your business. I recommend including a site map or list of links to all public pages on your website, a map if you are a brick-and-mortar store, business hours, business address, your mission statement, social media icons, and occasionally, I like to include a newsletter sign up form as well. The footer is a really flexible space but I find that it’s a great place to squeeze a lot of info that you want to be seen across every page.

Who you are

Your website should clearly describe who you are to your visitors. Be sure to include a short bio on your website if you don’t have a dedicated about page.

Services or products

List some of your most popular products or most booked services right on the front page of your website. Use clear calls to action inviting your visitors to learn more or make a purchase.

Contact Information

Let your visitors know exactly how they can get in touch with you. Put your preferred methods of contact or info about how to get started in an area where people will see it. Make it easy for them to reach you or get to your checkout.
